Lahti: seminar/workshop "Organisation and perspectives of joint Russian and Finnish business and trade cooperation".
Activity 1.
The first seminar was carried out on 13-14 June 2007 in St Petersburg (21 participants).
The topic of the first day of the seminar was "Cross-cultural communication. Finland as
business environment." The seminar dealt with the characteristics of the current
social-economic condition of Finland, revealed priorities in cooperation,
peculiarities and experience of cooperation between entrepreneurs of two countries.
The topic of the second day was "Investment climate of St Petersburg and Leningrad
region. Special economic zones of St Petersburg." The seminar dealt with the main
directions of St Petersburg strategic development, its investment policy, peculiarities
of joint companies setting up and their functioning in special economic zones in
respect of Russian-Finnish cooperation, which created the possibility to verify
priorities of cooperation within the project.
Activity 2.
The first joint forum was held on 14 June 2007 in St Petersburg.
The first business contacts between Russian and Finnish entrepreneurs were established.
Participants shared experience and problems in the sphere of Russian-Finnish cooperation.
The most promising directions of cooperation between cross-border regions of Russia and
Finland were discussed, in particular cooperation in environmental protection field
(recycling) and social field (health care).
Activity 3.
The seminar and the workshop "Organisation and perspectives of joint Russian
and Finnish business and trade cooperation" were held on 25-26 October 2007 in Lahti.
(23 participants).
The participants were especially interested in administrative and juridical issues
of conducting business in Finland. One of the reports made from Russian party was on
the topic "Managerial decisions in international business", which helped the participants
to enrich their knowledge about international business project implementations.
Taking into consideration interests of participants and within the framework of the project,
two Finnish companies were visited: Merivaara Oy (production of medical equipment and furniture)
and Solmaster Oy (production of varnish and paint materials), which actively conduct business
with Russian companies.
